We are just a week away from the release of Dharma Productions’ ‘Shershaah‘ on the 12th of August and the makers are releasing the second song ‘Ranjha’ from the film tomorrow. The film sees Sidharth Malhotra in the lead and is based on the life of Kargil war hero and Param Vir Chakra recipient, Late Captain Vikram Batra. The 24-year-old commander of the Indian army, was instrumental in capturing the crucial peak Point 4875, sacrificing his life. The cast also includes Kiara Advani, Shiv Pandit, Sahil Vaid, Nikitan Dheer, Raj Arjun and Javed Jaffrey in important roles.
The makers today dropped a teaser of the new song ‘Ranjha’ along with the caption, “Distance cannot make love distant. B Praak & Jasleen Royal have sung this from the heart and to the hearts! #Ranjha Song out tomorrow! Set your reminders!” The lead cast also tweeted this announcement with similar captions. The melodious 1st song ‘Raataan Lambiyan’ released just 5 days ago has already reached 52 million views on YouTube and also topped all music charts. This song’s teaser too, shows us glimpses of Capt. Vikram Batra and Dimple Cheema (played by Kiara Advani) falling in love. We can’t wait to see how the song pans out and whether we will get to see more of their love story.
Just recently the makers also released a Behind The Scenes video of the film and it was nothing short of inspiring, heartwarming and emotional, all at the same time. Sidharth Malhotra truly went all in for the role. Not only has he trained and prepped heavily, but also researched enough about the real-life hero to make a strong, convincing impact on the audience. It certainly looks like this is Sidharth’s finest performance yet and this waiting is killing us!
‘Shershaah’ marks the Bollywood directorial debut of Vishnu Varadhan, who has previously given us Tamil hits like ‘Billa’ and ‘Arambham’. The film announced in 2019, was initially slated for a theatrical release in July 2020 before it got postponed due to the pandemic. Co-produced by Kaash Entertainment and written by Sandeep Srivastava, it will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 12th.
