Notify MeCosmic Era (C.E.) 73. About a year has passed since an armistice signed between the Zodiac Alliance of Freedom Treaty and the Earth Alliance brought an end to the First Alliance-PLANT War. However, the hostilities between Coordinators and Naturals remain, including those of Shinn Asuka, a Coordinator who joined ZAFT after seeing his parents and sister killed right in front of him during the Alliance's invasion of Orb. Entrusted with one of ZAFT's brand-new mobile suits, the Impulse, Shinn and his allies must fight through an ever-escalating conflict, kicked off when an elite EA unit hijacks 3 of ZAFT's other new units, the Chaos, Gaia, and Abyss. With tensions even higher and unseen hands working from the shadows, a second Bloody Valentine war is on the horizon.

Shell-shocked, Shinn leaves Orb, and in C.E. 73, he becomes the pilot of ZAFT's newest MS.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer is a side story to the anime TV series, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. As of July 2006, it is being streamed on Bandai Channel as an original net animation. The show is directed by Susumu Nishizawa and written by Shigeru Morita, both staff members of Gundam SEED Destiny. The series consists of three episodes, each running at 15-minutes long. The web broadcast began in July 2006, with a new episode showing monthly. A DVD containing all three episodes as well as the two 5-minute long Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray animated shorts was released on November 24, 2006. This DVD also contained a different ending for Stage 3 in which several scenes after the Phantom Pain attack are shown. A manga adaptation of the series has been released in 2007. Authored by Naoki Moriya, it features an epilogue reveals the previously uncertain fate of Selene and Sven as they are shown to be alive and mostly unharmed from their ordeal. Sven joins the DSSD.

Shinn Asuka, the new main character's eyes are full of sorrow as his family was killed in Orb during the war. Meanwhile, Athrun is torn between protecting Cagalli in Orb and doing something about the war. With new Mobile Suits being developed by ZAFT and the abduction of 3 of them by three Earth Alliance Pilots, the new story begins.

In need of all the help it can get after being decimated in the previous war and losing many of its key members, the AEUG ship Argama enlists the aid of a young junk collector from the Side 1 colony of Shangri-La named Judau Ashta to pilot its newest mobile suit, the ZZ Gundam.
